Why does Lithuania have two independence days? On February 16th 1918, the Council of Lithuania signed the Act of Independence, choosing not join Russia or Germany. On March 11th 1990, Lithuania instated a second Independence Day, called Restoration of Independence Day, celebrating the end of Soviet rule.
