There are few places on the planet so simultaneously beautiful and sad as @arlingtonnatl . Pictured above, its meticulously landscaped grounds are hallowed. While visiting, you feel an indescribable weight of respect and responsibility. But no matter where you are celebrating Memorial Day – Arlington, a parade in your town, or in your backyard with friends and family – please do so with perspective and remembrance. It’s easy these days to get wrapped up in the muck and mire of politics. As a country, we likely all have varying opinions or question the reason and aim of why these brave souls were put in a position to give their lives. But what is undeniably true, no matter the politics of the day – they showed up. They did their job. They gave it all. Because we asked them to. Now we pause to pay our respects. Please take a moment this Memorial Day and join us in celebrating and remembering the lives sacrificed in service to our country. Their sacrifice cannot be forgotten. We’ll leave you with a quote from Quincy native and 2nd President of the United States John Adams, who understood sacrifice all to well. Happy Memorial Day! “Posterity! You will never know how much it cost to preserve your freedom. I hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven, that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.” -John Adams
